Manchester United will use the summer transfer window to build a squad capable of going deep into the Champions League.

Michael Carrick has already agreed to sign a two-year contract at Old Trafford after a successful interim spell, and the former Middlesbrough boss will be given a handsome budget to invest.

A new left-back is on the list of priorities for Carrick as he aims to sign someone to rival Luke Shaw, and according to TEAMtalk, United could launch an ambitious move for Newcastle United's Lewis Hall

The 21-year-old is viewed internally at Man United as a "leading option" to strengthen Carrick's squad next season, having established himself as one of the Premier League's best in his position.

A £55 million asking price has reportedly been touted for the England international, with Hall seen as a "hugely attractive" proposition due to his athleticism, technical quality and aggressive nature in and out of possession.

While the Magpies are adamant they don't want to lose him, Jason Wilcox is a "big admirer" of the youngster, and perhaps one of Europe's elite club's could persuade him to leave St James' Park.

Hall is under contract at Newcastle until June 2029 and has made 29 Premier League appearances this term.
