Carrick returned to the club as an interim boss in January and has since galvanised the entire dressing room to achieve Champions League football.

The 44-year-old has won an impressive 10 of his 15 matches in charge of the Red Devils, and now he's set to be rewarded with a permanent stay.

Confidence is growing that an agreement can be reached, and the players, including captain Bruno Fernandes, are keen for Carrick to stay at Manchester United.

Speaking on his YouTube channel, transfer guru Fabrizio Romano has revealed what he has heard about Bruno's feelings on the manager signing a contract.

"Also, I’m told Bruno Fernandes is also very happy with Michael Carrick, and Bruno is not just a top player, he’s more than this," Romano said.

"The player of Manchester United in this moment and the impact on a player like Bruno is very important."

Carrick is expected to seal his contract before the final game of the season against Brighton & Hove Albion on May 24.
