Capturing a new left winger is Hansi Flick's main priority once Marcus Rashford heads back to Manchester United, and Ezzalzouli has emerged as a possible option, according to Mundo Deportivo.
The report claims that Barca made contact with Betis last week to gain an insight into the player's current situation, seeing him as a quality wide option.
Ezzalzouli was sold by the Catalan giants for €7.3 million in September 2023 after making 14 appearances for the first team. Barca also retained a buy-back option and 50% of the rights in the event of a future sale to another club.
That has since been reduced to 30% after the Spanish side asked Betis to terminate Vitor Roque’s loan spell early so they could sell him to Palmeiras during the winter transfer window of 2025.
The 24-year-old has since developed into a phenomenal talent under Manuel Pellegrini with 27 goal involvements in 41 appearances this term.
Ezzalzouli's contributions have helped Betis qualify for the Champions League, making a potential return to Barcelona more difficult, but not impossible.
Former manager and legendary midfielder, Xavi, had the pleasure of managing the Moroccan international before he departed the club, hailing him an "extraordinary" talent.
“Extraordinary Abde, Gavi and Nico. They are supporting the team in difficult moments. The effort is extraordinary. Young people make a difference and that is difficult to digest," Xavi said.
“Abde’s game is spectacular, and also Nico and Gavi’s. Abde is a differential player. He can make a difference, it is not because of the goal. He is a dagger. A marvel. It is a surprise. It is great news. They are making the difference in a tremendous way. But we all have to demand more from each other.”
Barcelona will have to cough up €60m to lure Abde back to the Camp Nou, with his current contract set to expire in June 2029.
