Newcastle winger Anthony Gordon is preparing to bid farewell to the club as he edges closer to joining Bayern Munich.

Gordon favours a move to the Bundesliga giants, but there remains a gulf in the player's valuation, despite agreeing on "broad terms" over a switch.

Newcastle are holding out for £75m+ for the 25-year-old, who has 17 goals in all competitions this term, while Bayern are only prepared to pay around £55 million for his signature.

Once a fee is agreed upon by both clubs, the England international will have his transfer to Bayern confirmed, with Ben Jacobs revealing that terms over a five-year contract are in place.

Eddie Howe even hinted in Friday's press conference that Gordon is set to leave the Magpies.

"When you get to this stage of the season, part of what we will be doing we'll be looking to next year, naturally, so yes," he admitted.

"Anthony's just come back from injury. I think the team has played well in his absence and with a partial view to the future, yes."

Howe essentially confirmed that Gordon will never play for Newcastle again, as playing him in the final two games presents the risk of injury that could derail a summer transfer.

In 152 appearances for the club, the fleet-footed forward has plundered 39 goals and supplied 28 assists.
